Designer Michelle Pollock
It took me an entire year later and a delicious piece of cake from The Silver Swan (local restaurant here in Traverse City) to finally be inspired. www.silverswan.com Three amazing sisters own the Silver Swan; their homemade food is to die for, not to mention the love and passion they put in each dish. As I was savoring each mouth-watering bite of the Chocolate Raspberry Gouache Cake, (talk about sinful) I got to thinking, what was in it? What made it so good? All cakes have a basic recipe, however, there is always that special ingredient that makes a cake a masterpiece. That’s when it hit me; I was like a cake recipe. So below is the recipe for designer Michelle Pollock”
Drop Michael Angelo into a blender; add a pinch of Willy Wonka, whip until smooth then sprinkle with Manolo Blahnik. The end product is a pure imagination of luscious mosaics that radiate delicious colors for craving eyes. Elegant creations, that satisfies you’re longing for fun and unique footwear. (sense of humor required)
My shoes that I choose for the day states how I feel When I go to my closet in the morning I decide what shoes I want to wear then find an outfit to go with that. Do I feel fun and festive, elegant and chic, wild and crazy, sexy and alluring? Whatever the mood I have a shoe that fits. If I cannot find one, I design one. And as my tag line states you WILL SEE THE BEAUTY IN EVERY SOLE!
For those who have followed my career, I hope you love the new look as much as I do. “You have to have a sense of humor to wear my shoes.”

Watching the glamorous women of Hollywood during the 1920’s – 1950’s was the start of my love affair with fashion and shoes. The romantic aspects of these films were not the only reason for watching them, but the journey into an enchanting world of fashion and famine allure. Later these images combined with my passion for art, infatuation with classic cars, and the desire to be unique would propel me into a designing frenzy. Greta Garbo, Ginger Rogers, Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and of course the sensual Marylyn Monroe were just a few of my favorite ladies. I designed my first pair of shoes at the age of 14 for my Barbie doll. She was having her first date with Ken and he was arriving promptly at 6:00pm driving his red corvette. The answer is yes her shoes were inspired and designed off of his car. Little did I know that design would come full circle in my life?
Through my choices in life, I would detour from my destiny and travel the hard life for a while. It wouldn’t be until my two children were toddlers that I would find my passion for art again. I started my first business “ Murals by Michelle” specializing in full wall and room Murals. I would not change being a mother for anything. Through my children I have found a zest for life and learned to laugh again. There is nothing like seeing the world through the eyes of a child to put you back on track. Ashley and Jordan have opened me up to a world that is full of challenges and beauty, thus my tag line "See the Beauty in every Sole" for them I am forever loved and a admired, THANK YOU XX
I still continue to paint murals, especially when I need a rest from shoes. Painting gives me the extra motivation that helps me to be inspired.
Through my life I’ve always received compliments and admiration when it comes to “my fashion”. So I found myself in Traverse City, eating a scrumous pie at The Pie Company (another fabulous place for delicious treats) when a wise intuitive lady said to me, ” Just do it”. And that’s what I did.
